Reintroducing the Permanent Collection explores the evolving art styles of the artists represented in the permanent collection of the Mystic Museum of Art (MMoA). This museum-wide exhibition traces the time periods during which these artists lived, from the mid-1800s to the present day. Many of the works on display were created by past and present artist members of MMoA, which was founded
by artists as the Mystic Art Association in 1913.
All creators continue to grow and evolve throughout their artistic careers, influenced by the art movements of their times. Whenever possible, two or more works by a single artist have been included in this exhibition—one best representing the style the artist was/is known for, the other(s) demonstrating unexpected departures or experimentation.
The exhibition has been arranged according to time periods. Please click on the following links to expand the online galleries and explore the artwork on display!
