MMoA’s landmark exhibition From Crisis to Color: Derrière le Miroir (Behind the Mirror), tells one of the most remarkable stories in the history of Modern Art. At the end of the Second World War, Parisian gallery owner Aimé Maeght made original artwork by the most renowned artists of his time available at a fraction of its usual cost in his exhibition catalogues. Non-editioned, unbound, and unsigned, the catalogues offered unprecedented access to art such masters as Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Joan Miró, Alberto Giacometti and others. In turn, these artists worked with writers and poets to create an unparalleled blend of art and literature, and to restore the cultural life of a world torn apart by war.

What is Derrière le Miroir? How can one exhibition feature so many world-famous artists? Why is this exhibition so important? Get a glimpse behind the scenes of the exhibition, including access to artwork not included in the final installation!
