Since 1978, MMoA has presented an annual, open juried exhibition dedicated entirely to the field of photography, celebrating the many different styles and techniques employed in the medium by local artists.
Photo Show 42 was originally set to run from March 13 – April 18, 2020, but was unfortunately hindered by the Museum’s forced closure in the face of COVID-19. Although MMoA was able to create a virtual version of the exhibition as it was installed in the Museum galleries, nothing compares to being able to see artwork face-to-face. Thanks to the generosity of Hartford HealthCare’s Mystic HealthCenter to support healing through the arts, Selections From Photo Show 42 lives on to benefit medical professionals, staff, and patients in the new medical building at 100 Perkins Farm Drive.
Although not an exhibition in the traditional sense, 63 photographs by local artists adorn all three floors of the building. Many thanks to the participating artists:
