Selections from the Permanent Collection: The Founding
The Founding presents works from the Mystic Museum of Art’s permanent collection, celebrating the contributions that were made to American art by founding artists of the organization. At the turn of the 20th century, numerous artists gathered in Connecticut and formed artist colonies. Charles H. Davis was the founder of the Mystic colony. The artists who gathered around him formally organized in 1914 and began exhibiting regularly. This exhibition will highlight works by the founding artists and provide a window into the regional development of Impressionism.
