This year we’ll be celebrating MMoA’s 99 years in the community with delicious food from Go Fish, an open bar and live entertainment from The Rivergods and jazz improv musician Michael Chicoria. We’ve got opportunities for you to win a brand new Vespa, painted by artist Ted Mikulski and original art by regional artists. Traditional silent auction items, including a behind the scenes tour of the Brooklyn Art Museum and Botanical Garden, 2 Nights stay at the New York Yacht Club and a special Nascar Experience package are up for grabs along with a whole lot more!

Mystic Art in the Evening

Thursday, August 2, 6pm – 8pm

Tonight, get a glimpse of Mystic’s new contemporary dance troupe, Mystic Moves Dance Theater. They will perform excerpts from “Gone Fishing…” a story of a young woman searching for her soul mate, ultimately finding herself and the support of her community. Refreshments served and free admission.


Mystic Outdoor Arts Festival

Saturday, August 11 & Sunday, August 12, 11am – 3pm

Cool off in Mystic Museum of Art’s galleries during the Mystic Outdoor Arts Festival.  MMoA will host art activities for children including hat-making on Saturday (only), or drop in on Saturday and Sunday for an Eye Spy gallery hunt and Chalk Art Challenge on the grounds. Refreshments provided. Free and open to the public!


Children’s Concert Performance at MMoA

Students from Mystic Museum of Art’s Breaking Free: Songwriting and the Art of Being Yourself, taught by Linda Bonadies will perform original works composed during the course which focuses on song writing, melody harmony and rhythm.

Stop into Mystic Museum of Art’s galleries to view The 56th Regional Juried Show highlighting watercolor, pastel and photography work, plus much more. The galleries will also be exhibiting William Butcher’s Solo Exhibition representing a cohesive series of paintings that explore the mysterious and illusive spiritual nature of human life.

We’ll create bold simple compositions with instructor June O’Connor using the Japanese style, Notan, which explores the concept of light and dark as they are placed next to each other. Cut paper into flat shapes on a two-dimensional surface to create your own distinct designs. We provide instruction, supplies, martinis & plenty of time to socialize.

Mystic Art in the Evening

Join us for the opening reception of 34th Annual Photo Show, Art of the Boat: Photographs from Mystic Seaport’s Rosenfeld Collection, and Selections from Mystic Art center’s Permanent Collection. The exhibitions will focus on original imagery and a unique collection of the world’s largest display of maritime photography on loan from Mystic Seaport. Refreshments provided.


Bus Trip to the Museum of Russian Icons and Fruitlands Museum

Wednesday, October 10, 9:15am – 6:30pm

Join fellow art trekkers from Mystic Museum of Art and Lyman Allyn Art Museum to explore two hidden treasures in Western Massachusetts during peak fall foliage week: the Museum of Russian Icons and Fruitlands Museum.

We’ll take a docent-led tour of the Museum of Russian Icons which houses the largest collection of Russian icons and artifacts in North America. Spanning six centuries, the collection includes important historical paintings dating from the earliest periods of icon “writing” to the present.

We’ll spend the afternoon at the Fruitlands Museum where you can enjoy lunch on your own in the café, then explore the museum’s  collection of Native American art, 19th Century American portraiture and Hudson River School landscapes. Fruitlands is an outdoor museum: dress appropriately. Before returning home, enjoy a stop at nearby Bolton Orchards. The bus boards promptly at 4:30 pm.

Cost: $75 Lyman Allyn and MMoA Members/$90 Public (includes bus travel, museum admissions, tour).

Curator of the Rosenfeld Collection and Mystic Museum of Art Board member, Mary Anne Stets, talks about the collection of photographs currently on view in our Art of the Boat: Photographs from Mystic Seaport’s Rosenfeld Collection exhibit. The collection covers 100 years of yachting and the family of photographers behind them. Discussion begins at 6:30pm.
